The Founder of the Institute Karmasakshi Late Hon. Nanasaheb Premchandji Jadhav was a dedicated follower of Gandhian philosophy. He met Balubhhai Mehata in his teen age and come under his influence. He was given khadi training and the lessons of Gandhian Philosophy in the Company of Hon. Balubhai Mehata. He also becomes the Principal of the Khadi Auditors Training College at Murud Dist- Raigad of the Konkan Region in Maharashtra.
Then he met the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Hon. Vasantraoji Naik which was the second turning point of his life Vasantraoji Naik inspired him to work for the education of the poor people of his area and Nanasaheb started many schools, Ashram schools for the Needy and poor students and in 1994 he founded Sonamai Shikshan Prasarak Mandal. Sonamai was his mother’s name and established Arts and Science Mahila College.
Hon Bharatjyoti Smt. Ashatai is the Founder Chairman of Sonamai Shikshan Prasarak Mandal Dhule. Womens management body efficiently handle the Institute.Womens management run the womens college to uplift the social women status Hence the college is run by the women for the women.
Karmasakshi Late Hon. Nanasaheb and Chairman Hon. Bharatjyoti Ashatai are seen as the kind hearted guardians by all the concerned persons and students. In our college 80% of our students are rulers, tribals and down troddens. They were really deprived of higher education. So the college is working as the part of Beti-Bachavo-Beti- Padhavo mission.
Our college is permanently affiliated to Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University Jalgaon and it is working as per Maharashtra University act July- 2016. The College has got 2(F) and 12(B) status by UGC, New Delhi. It has completed two Cycles of NAAC. It has got accreditation with ‘B’ Grade in the second cycle of the accreditation.
The Higher and Technical Education Department of Maharashtra Government announces award as ‘Jagar Janivancha’ every year. It is given to impart the values like Gender Equality, Confidence building in girl students and soon. Our college has got second rank of this prestigious award in 2012-13 from Nandurbar District in our University. The College got 50000 rupees. In 2013-14 got the first rank in Nandurbar District and on University level also got the second rank the awards were of 100000 rupees each. Thus the college got 250000 rupees. The College is giving prizes to the talented students with the amount in order to encourage them for further education.
In 2014-15 the College got two prizes for the periodical Ashankur one was for the Cover page and the second was for the best English poem writing which had been achieved by Maria Shaikh for the poem ‘I need a friend’.
In 2011-12 and in 2015-16 our students were in the merit list of the University in Political Science in 2011-12 Miss. Marathe Pratibha Namdar and in 2015-16 Miss Pawar Mamata Kailash. In 2010-11 Miss- Rathod Gayatri Dashrath and in 2016-17 Miss Patil Radhika Suresh has Been appointed as University Student Council Member.
In our college 50% of the teaching staff has got Ph.D. Our college has a highquality infrastructure, environment friendly campus, Encouraging and refreshing educational atmosphare internet facility, online examination practice facility, separate reading room, required textbooks, reference books, various Journals, Magazines and Newspapers which have enriched our library and makes our college an inspiring place for education.
The college has co-curricular and extracurricular programmes for the all side development of our girl students National Service Scheme programmes, Yuvati Sabha, Self Defence Camp, Personality Development Camp etc. are taken every year. Competitive Examination Guidance Committee, Career Guidance Committee, Career Katta of Govt. of Maharashtra, Medical Checkup, Blood group Check Up Camp, Student Council, Student Grievance and Redressal Cell, Ragging Free Campus, Anti Sexual Harassment Cell, University Sponsered Eklawya Viddyadhan Yojana, Earn and Learn Scheeme, Indian Government Scholarship for Financial Challenged students, and the students from miniorities, Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Scholarship for General Class Students, Bharatjyoti Ashatai Premchand Jadhav Sholarship for financially challenged students from 2016-17, pure drinking water filter, Sanitary Napkin Wending Machine, Environment related programmes etc. are the important features of the college which attract students.
